Hey my loves,
So it's that time of year again, one of my
favourite times of the year- Summer! The sun is shining (well it's meant to be)
the BBQ's are in full swing and everyone is having a good old time.
Seeing as the summer season has arrived I
thought I would give you my top tips for a healthy and safe but enjoyable
summer- after all you don't want to spend your summer indoors as you over did
it on the sun and have ended up looking like a giant lobster!
Just follow these tips and tricks and you'll be
in for a great summer!
1) Regularly apply sun cream- This tip is the most important out of them all, during the sunny
weather it is vital that you apply sun cream regularly to stay
protected from the UV rays. Getting burnt and not wearing sun
cream during this hot weather can have serious health
complications later on in life and can lead to skin cancer. If you know
you are going to be out in the sun all day, pack sun cream and apply
it every 2-3 hours and try to stay out of the sun between the hours off
11-3, this is when the sun reaches it hottest and most powerful temperature.
ALWAYS WEAR SUN CREAM!
2) Stay hydrated- This tip is as equally as important as the first. During the hot
weather seasons we are more likely to overheat and sweat, this means
our bodies will become dehydrated, when your going to be out in the hot weather
make sure you throw a bottle of water in your bag before you leave the house.
If your worried it will go warm put some water in the freezer the night before
and take it out in the morning when you leave, that way it will stay colder for
longer- failing that grab a fresh ice cold water from the shops, a couple quid
doesn't hurt if it means staying hydrated.
3- Minimal makeup- Come on ladies and gentlemen, if you're heading down to the beach
and your about to have day of sunbathing and splashing around in the sea, you
do not need to put on the amount of makeup you would on a night out! Be confident
and go out bare faced, the sun is great for the skin (if in moderation and
ensuring you have sun cream on.) There is nothing worse than the look or feel
of your makeup melting off your face. If you're not 100% confident about going
bare faced, just apply a little BB cream or tinted moisturiser for
more subtle fresh look.
4) Get a good book- Come on social media addicts (cough, me cough) put down your phone
this summer and invest in a good summer read, it's so great to get your mind
working and thinking, so head down to your nearest book store and pick up a
good book to get into this summer, maybe even pick up 2 or 3 or 4. They are the
perfect item to take to the beach, read by the pool, wherever you are a book
will always come in handy!
5) Insect repellent- Wherever you may be this summer, whether it be at home or on a nice
beach holiday, always be prepared with insect repellent. The last thing you
want is to be bitten by a mosquito or some other nasty bug biting insect, stay
protected and keep those little mites away!
6) Enjoy a good BBQ- This one goes without saying, what's a summer without a good BBQ, a
nice hot dog or burger to indulge in, when the sun is shining, why not even
crack open a nice fruity cider or a nice ice cold lemonade. It's all well and
good enjoying a BBQ this summer, but it is so so important that you make sure
all the food is cooked properly- especially with those
cheap disposable BBQ's. You don't want to end up with
food poisoning this summer break.
7) Help the planet and walk or cycle- I know what you're thinking not another 'I love
tree's' Eco warrior! Not at all, don't get me wrong, I do use a car
and do travel to places using public transport. But in this sunny weather why
not do your bit by walking to your destination or even cycle, if you are only
travelling a short distance there is no reason to drive, leave the car at home
and cycle or walk- you will be exercising that way too.
These are my tips for having a healthy and safe
summer, I hope you all enjoy your summer holidays or break and enjoy the sunny
weather- if you're in the UK keep your fingers crossed that we actually get
some this year.
